Cheapest & Best Data Plans Across all Networks in Nigeria 2016

These days most of us use smartphones, and as you already know, using smartphone comes with one headache, data! Most of the features of smartphones that make them work properly requires data, as such we are always conscious of the amount of data we consume, especially here in Nigeria where data
cost is still considered high.

Today, am going to show you the best and most affordable data plans across all major mobile networks in Nigeria (MTN, Glo, Airtel and Etisalat), this I believe will help you get the best value for your money.

It is interesting to note that a lot has changed over the years in terms of data cost, these telcos are gradually bringing down the cost of data. We believe that in few months from now, the cost will reduce the more. Let dive in and compare each of the best plans these telcos offer.

MTN
For most occasional and regular users, MTN has a data plan that suits. Though they don’t have plans that cater for SME (data plans that allocates 10GB upwards), since their highest data plans allocates 7.5GB for ₦8,000 Naira. If you are a heavy user or require more than 7.5GB data monthly at a cheaper rate, then MTN is not for you.

For regular and normal users, the best data plan from MTN is the Day & Night data plan. This plans costs ₦2,500 Naira and comes with a total of 4.5GB. However, out of the allocated 4.5GB you can only use 1.5GB in the day 6.01am-8.59pm and 3GB at night 9pm-6am). Let me explain a little further, when you browse between 6.01am and 8.59pm you will be charged from the 1.5GB data pool, however when you browse between 9pm and 6am, you will be charged from the 3GB pool.

Simply dial *120# to subscribe or Text 120 to 131

MTN has another plan that gives you 2.015GB for ₦2,015 Naira. Text SPB to 131 to subscribe

Note for smaller usage, between 1GB and 1.5GB monthly, MTN is not the cheapest option.

MTN speed is fast if you have 3GB or HSPA signal strength and it’s pretty stable too.

AIRTEL
Airtel has various data plans that caters for both normal and heavy users, but with maximum data plan of 20GB at ₦18,000 Naira (Dial *463#), it may not be ideal for SME and very heavy users because of the cost.
For Android phone owners, Airtel have a good plan called Android I that gives you 2GB for ₦2,000 Naira and Android II that gives you 4.5GB for ₦3,500 Naira

Simply dial *437# for Android I and *438# for Android II

It is good to note that Airtel’s Android bundle works on all Smartphones (Android, Apple, BB, Nokia, Lumia etc)

Airtel’s network speed is not very good from personal experience. But is works for some...
